Back Home In Derry - Day 2.

today we ran through about half of the first half of the set list for the show.

Foggy Dew - summer playing keys, hasn't changed since last time, adam has learnt the basic tune for it on the pennywhistle, and will be looking at pennywhistle tutorials to try and learn some other ways to play it, george has pretty much got the drum down, but i think the soft beaters should be used instead of normal drumsticks - and for the guitar parts, we decided on the chords to play.

I need to practice this song alot more, as i kept hitting off-notes, and running out of breath quickly.

God Save The Queen - this song is done in two sections for two different scene changes, the only problem with the first section was trying to figure out an ending that fit it right.

with the second section we had a bit of trouble with the timing of the 'no future' parts, but with practice will be fine. we also briefly looked at the irish rover, and other ceile songs.

Bring the Jubilee Rehearsals - day 1

today we met with robbie and the new director, denise, to discuss the new equipment we will be needing for the show.

we also discussed what we felt we should work on this time around.

now that we have adam in the band instead of ant, i think we will be able to make better use of the space, because there will be less swapping over of instruments to do, however, we also raised the idea of trying to create a little more space for musicians during the show if possible.

i think our biggest challege will be re-doing the 'red cloth scene' to make it truly breathtaking, but we have enough time to work out what to do.

i liked ants suggestion of trying out different types of music on cd's while watching the red cloth scene, to see what fits well, and how we can get ideas from that as to what we should play.

we later worked on the songs alternative ulster, and let's stay together, which are both coming along really well for the first day of rehearsals i think.
