Posterous theme by Cory Watilo

today we done a vocal warm up, and then looked at teach your children, in which i am doing the higher harmony with heidi and maria and leanti - but we do find it quite difficult to go from the high verse back into the main harmony and always end up getting lost with what we are singing.

and then we spent until lunch with ant and all of the new instruments for groove is in the heart, going through it section by section so that we could make it perfect.

dave wasnt in to play bass for boys and girls today, so hugo played drums and little sam played the bassline, but we mostly focused on getting a rapper for groove is in the heart, and mine and beckys harmonies for memphis tennesse, which didn't take too long to work out.

tomorrow we will be adding more people into groove is in the heart to help fill out the sound of the band with more percussion etc.

finished?

today we had the chance to go through all of our songs as everyone was in for once.

while we were going through girls and boys, hatman and little sam took some time to practice getting the keyboard part in time with drums and getting the notes right, and then after that we showed tom and dave who also agreed that we were finished with our songs, and we could start looking at other songs we wanted in the show.

19

today we ran through memphis tennesse with sam singing lead vocals, and that was all fine, sounding really good and tight, then we run through funnel of love and groove is in the heart, in which dom was struggling a bit with the guitar parts, so we let him practise alone for about an hour, and then he came back and was sounding better.

joining evolver

today i joined the group rock and roll and 90's pop.

i think we made a good start, i listened to funnel of love a few times, and then gave it a go, obviously i didn't get it perfect straight away, but i got most of it pretty easily. and then we had a go at groove is in the heart, which i picked up quite quickly too, but again it wasn't perfect.

unfortunately becky wasn't in so we couldn't do much apart from get me up to speed with where the group is.

THIS WEEK days 16 - 20

this week we done a couple of run throughs of the first half, the first run through we did was far too long, so the next day we re-done it, making sure that everything was tighter and better then before.

we tried out a few new things for the red cloth scene, added in vocals, experimented with how much we could build the music up, we also worked through the blanket scene, and worked on different things for the music in that, we read over the script, and decided that we should fit the music around what they're saying, for example, one of the men says 'i could hear a voice, a womans voice' and so we decided that it would be an appropriate time for my vocals to come in.

we tried out me singing foggy dew while on the scaffolding, and then quickly running down during the next song, which works.

we also ran through the second haf of the show, adding in the new scenes, and making sure we had the right cues, however we haven't looked at the ending of the show yet.

birthday girl! - day 13

today we done a soundcheck and then watched the first years without words project, which i enjoyed, and i thought it was a lot better than last years.

we then looked at the blanket scene, and decided that we needed to contrast the music to the mood of the scene, so we are now playing a traditional irish sounding piece of music.
