Posterous theme by Cory Watilo

LOOK TOM, I DONE MY POSTEROUS!

The pretender, foo fighters -

on this song i have learnt a harmony that is the octave higher than chris' and nico has learnt one that is an octave higher than mine.

the only big improvement that the whole song could have is that at the moment it seems to build up to the chorus and then nothing really happens...

we are currently looking into how we can solve this problem.

date with the night - yeah yeah yeahs

with this song all i did was listen to it a few times with the lyrics and then me dave katie and sam played it a couple of times through.

it is a very high energy song and i thin k the main thing i worry about is that i will be out of my comfort zone singing this on stage.

Evolver Debrief.

1. Was the project succesful? Why?

i think that the project was successful in the fact that we sold enough tickets, we had plenty of songs to perform, even after some were cut for not being ready enough, people were adding new songs in once they had finished with their band songs etc.

2. Did you have enough time/space/support?

personally i feel like i did have enough time despite coming in halfway through the project, i feel like i picked the songs up quickly, however there were some songs that i struggled with and i feel that if i had had more time to learn them then i would of performed them better/they wouldn't of been cut from the show.

3. List ways in which your band was successful?

i think my band was successful because we did get all four of our band songs done in time, and we worked well as a group.

4. List ways in which your band was unsuccesful?

although we did work well as a group, there were often conflicting ideas within the group which sometimes led to arguements, and time wasting that could of been used to make songs better/learn more songs.

5. How could you overcome these problems next time?

to overcome the arguements i think we should all just listen to each others opinions and ideas and not be quick to dismiss other people views.

also to overcome time wasting, we should have set breaks so that people dont just walk off whenever they feel like it.

6. Can you evaluate your groups:

a) communication/listening skills/communication.

our communication and listening skills; co-operation was okay, we did listen to each other, but sometimes people were a bit too bossy, or not willing to listen to others veiws.

c) rehearsal techinques:

our rehearsal techniques weren't the best, we mostly just performed the song over and over again, which did work to some extent, however if we had learnt the song wrong and continued playing it repeatedly, then we would learn it wrong and find it hard to break out of the habit of playing it wrong.

d) strengths and weaknesses:

strengths - we all picked up the songs fairly quickly, without any fuss

weaknesses - time wasting and arguments/bossiness etc

7. What have you learned from this project? (what can you do now that you couldn't do before)

i have learnt to sing different styles of music to that of which i would usually sing.

8. What do you consider to be the main area that you need to work on as a musician?

stage presence/confidence.

protest song.

in the 1980's the band Frankie Goes to Hollywood released a political pop protest song Two Tribes a relentless bass driven track depicting the futility and starkness of nuclear weapons and the Cold War. The video for the song depicted a wrestling match between then-President Ronald Reagan and then-Soviet leader Konstantin Chernenko for the benefit of group members and an eagerly belligerent assembly of representatives from the world's nations, the event ultimately degenerating into complete global destruction. This video was played several times at the 1984 Democratic National Convention. Due to some violent scenes ("Reagan" biting "Chernenko"'s ear, etc.), the unedited video could not be shown on MTV, and an edited version was substituted.

today we done the second half of the tech run, and trumpet sam was added to the song ontop of the keys, for a more brassy sound, and rapper harry forgot his lyrics, so he got taken off of the song, the start of the song was changed so now i just say 'we're going to dance and have some fun!'

In Thursday, we did a singing warm up and then we moved on to teach your children, Ant had an idea that hatman would be on the acoustic stage and then the rest of the band are on the main stage. It went well however Sam isn't singing on the song anymore and Ant wants chris to play acoustic whilst singing,  Ant wanted to spend the whole day working on the show by putting us in the order of which we are to perform in, so it was the Blues song, it went ok but the singers couldn't remember what they were doing during the song so we played the song a couple of times so they get it. After that the rock "n" roll group were next so we had to perform Funnel of Love, we had Danni playing keys for us to add more depth to the song, the song went very well but we also had Harry added on the song to play tanberine. We then moved onto Memphis Tennessee which went very well.

today we started with a vocal warm up, and replace becky on the harmony for girls and boys, with chris doing the lead vocals instead of me, which sounded better, but, the lyrics need learning.

and then we rehearsed groove is in the heart, but we still have no rapper or keyboard player, so ant played keyboard for the time being.

today we spent the majority of the day learning a blues song that woodstock originally auditioned as an acoustic peice, me, back, heidi maria and leanti were added to the vocals,  and i think we will be opening the show with that song too.

we then ran through our rock and roll songs, and had danni put on keys and harry on tamberine too.
